Concrete Polishing Training Ballarat

At Rock Up Group, we offer customised concrete polishing training in Ballarat for individuals of all levels of experience. Our training sessions are designed to provide participants with the required expertise and understanding to excel in this field while maintaining the highest safety and best-practice standards. Our training also includes the use of high-performance, purpose-built machinery, tooling, and equipment.

Concrete polishing in Ballarat has gained popularity in recent years due to its numerous benefits such as durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal. Polished concrete is created by grinding, treating and polishing the concrete surface to achieve a smooth, refined and sometimes glossy finish, making it an ideal flooring solution for both residential and commercial spaces.

Equipment and Tools You’ll Learn

The concrete grinder is one of the most crucial tools for polishing concrete. These machines are equipped with appropriate tooling and designed to remove the top layer of concrete, exposing the aggregate. This process provides the perfect base for creating a smooth and polished surface.

Concrete grinders are essential in achieving a high-quality finish on concrete floors. These machines use diamond-impregnated pads or discs to progressively smooth and polish the concrete surface.

To achieve the best results, it’s essential to use the appropriate diamond tools throughout the MPC  process. These tools include diamond grinding segments, cup wheels, and polishing pads that come in various grit levels. Using the correct grit progression ensures a consistent finish and reduces the risk of scratches or uneven surfaces on the polished concrete floor.

Finishing Techniques and Processes You’ll Learn

In our concrete polishing training Ballarat courses sessions  we will provide you with comprehensive knowledge on various finishing techniques and processes to achieve a flawless polished surface. These include:

Creating a flat floor

Creating a flat floor is the foundation of our product. It’s essential to ensure the floor is flat before continuing along the MPC process. We show you how to test, plan and run operations to ensure you’re achieving this.

Grouting

Grouting is an essential process during concrete floor polishing as it fills in any pinholes, small voids, or cracks in the surface. This step ensures a smooth and level surface for further polishing and contributes significantly to the floor’s lifespan.

Transition

Transition is the stage between grinding and polishing, where the floor is treated with a densifier to initiate chemical reactions within the concrete. This step essentially prepares the concrete to be polished.

Honing

Honing is an essential step in the polishing process, involving the switch from metal bond diamonds to resin bond diamonds to remove the rough surface and produce a smooth finish which can then be polished. The honing stages continue to use densifier to “tighten” the floor preparing the concrete for higher stages of polishing.

Polishing

Polishing stages continue the progression with finer and finer grit resin bond diamonds. These stages refine the scratch and may continue to use densifiers to “tighten” the floor to make it glassier.  The floor is then polished to the desired level of gloss from muted low gloss reflectivity all the way up to a high-gloss highly reflective finish. The polishing process increases the floor’s durability, resistance to stains and spills, and enhances its overall aesthetic appeal.

Sealing

An impregnating sealer is used for sealing, which does not sit on the top of the surface, preventing it from peeling, flaking, or wearing down over time. This sealer ensures that the finish is left fully refined and “closed off,” with increased resistance to spills, stains, and wear.

Concrete polishing training in Ballarat provides professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve excellent results through all these steps. Understanding and perfecting these techniques ensures a polished concrete surface that is not only visually appealing but also suitable for long-term use.

The Rock Up point of difference is the focus.

Rock Up Group focuses on the operator and the process chosen by the operator.

Rock Up Group is an independent company and works with the concrete polishers high-performance tooling and machinery of choice.

Rock Up Group aims to empower operators to be able to employ the most efficient  process, including tooling and technique combinations, to achieve the required outcome with the concrete at hand.

Rock Up Group does not “sell a system” but instead upskills the operator to understand the substrate they’re working with while getting comfortable with the capability of their chosen equipment.
